About Old Skool Fool - Chief Editor
Welcome Gaming Enthusiasts,
I would love to take up your time writing about the biggest fool of all. Which of course is myself, but I instead will give you the short form in a interview style questionaire!
Q: When did video games come into your life?
A: Ever since I could imagine. I was the wee lad fiending for video games. I think I laid my paws on the Coleco Vision first and the game I was trying to play was Bear Hunt!
Q: How did video games change your life?
A: Well, they have in a bunch of ways. First, It gave me a reason to have a good work ethic early in life because my parents were to poor to buy me new games so I had to go out & work for that dollar bill to pay for my addicting past-time. I have been working in the video games industry since I was 15!
Q: What was your first video game job?
A: Well I would have to unfortunatly say Funcoland. (Yes, it was an awful place) But it was where I felt that I belonged! In fact ever since then I have been in all aspects of gaming from game testing, to marketing , to retailing & even product development.
Q: What time frame of the gaming industry did you love most?
A: Well like my name states I am “Old School” so I love classic games..and don’t get me wrong I love new games too but I fancy the classics because I guess I was younger and had more time to appreciate them & I feel that classic Nintendo games were more creative, challenging & overall memorable. In fact some of today’s most popular game fanchises were established in the days of 8-bit gaming!!
Q: What other hobbies/jobs that you have done?
A: Well I have done alot acutally, though many of these things have been influenced by gaming. For instance I DJ & my favorite genre of music is anything electronic including house, jungle, trance, d&b, new wave, industrial & R&B. And of course those ill video game music remixes!!
Q: So why did you start the Gamer’s Voice?
A: Because I was tired of the media monsters compromising honest opinions of games that suck because publishers want to sell awful titles. I also wanted to show that Gaming is cool & always will be cool.
That I can play a complex RPG & still have a good night out on the town & issue my opinion on all facets on the gaming industry. Many people consider “gamers” to be anti-social nerds with no personality, agenda or attitude..I aim to show them different!
Though I am somewhat of a nerd, I consider myself the poster child for gamers “nouveau”!
Q: What is your favorite game?
A: Well, I can’t say I have totally “one favorite game”. Though I can say that I have one favorite game per genre. My favorite fighting game is Mortal Kombat, in fact I have the MK Logo tattooed on me & I have met the co-maker of the MK series Ed Boon several times!
Q: So what can we expect from the Gamer’s Voice?!
A: A little bit of everything! From new & classic game reviews to interviews from your favorite gamers & developers. We just want all our readers to have a good time. Especially since the industry is fun but I feel a little too serious so we’re going to give it back to the gamers!
Well, that’s it for now. I guess my interview for myself went pretty well…(I wasn’t too nervous & there was no prep time:).
I always love to hear from fellow gamers, so if you have an idea, a suggestion or just want to know more about the Gamer’s Voice then drop me a line. It would be totally cool to hear from you!
Until next time….To Game or not to Game: That is the Question!
