VGA Solutions for PS3 and Wii from VDigi Electronics Have Arrived!

If you’re the type of person who doesn’t have an HDTV, or if your TV doesn’t have enoughWii VGA Cables HDMI or component ports for all of your systems, or if you prefer gaming on your computer monitor, then I’ve got some great news for you. A company by the name of VDigi Electronics has come up with the perfect solution.

As I’m sure all of you are aware, Microsoft acknowledged the fact that the only thing some people had to display high resolution graphics were computer monitors, and they released their own set of VGA cables for the Xbox 360. Sony and Nintendo, however, have still failed to do so. This is where VDigi steps up to the plate, and hits a home run. By both designing and manufacturing their own VGA cables for the PlayStation 3 (Model VD-P3) and the Wii (Model VD-W2), VDigi has solved pretty much every VGA gamer’s problems.

You’re probably wondering how well these cables work. I have been using them for the past 2 weeks on my 19″ Dell Monitor and I have to say that I am extremely satisfied with both the PS3 and the Wii cables. Although the maximum resolution on both cables is 480p, the graphics are extremely crisp and the color quality is very impressive. There is absolutely no lag, even while using a VGA Switchbox like I’m using. Lag is always my biggest complaint when it comes to accessories and different types of A/V equipment, but with VDigi’s products, there is absolutely zero lag.

Using the cables requires a simple setup using the green component dongle included on the cable. Although this is really meant for HDTV’s, it will still work with any TV that has a standard composite (yellow) input. Once you plug this cable into the TV, you will notice that it will display in black and white (if used with a regular yellow composite input) or green (if used in a component input). For the Wii, simply turn it on, go into the Wii Options menu, Screen, TV Resolution, and select either EDTV or HDTV. Confirm the request, shut down the console, and plug the VGA connector into your monitor or whatever you’re using it with, and you’re set!

The PlayStation 3 setup is basically the same, but you’re utilizing the Display Options menu to set it up. You also want to make sure that you select 480p as your maximum output resolution, or else no picture will display.

After it’s set up, all you have to do is plug in the RCA Audio Cables (Red and White) into whatever input you have available. Whether it be your surround sound system (like me), or using the RCA>3.5mm (1/8″ in America) audio converter to plug it into your PC and play that way,  the audio is taken care of as well.

My only complaint about these cables is that the VGA dongle is female, which is the same for most computer monitors and TVs. This means that I had to purchase a standard Male to Male VGA cable in order to plug it into both my computer monitor and VGA Switchbox. However, standard VGA cables are only about 20 bucks these days, so it wasn’t that big of a deal. Again, this is my only complaint about the cables.

The PS3 and Wii VGA cables from VDigi Electronics are definitely the best VGA cables to ever hit the next-generation gaming market. Providing crystal clear graphics, easy setup and use (easy instructions are included in the package), and being the best solution out there for VGA gaming, the VDigi PS3 and Wii VGA cables are one of the best purchases you can make for your PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii.
