Indeed last night was a full moon. But I am not really sure if I was truly “dancing with the devil in the pale moonlight!”.
Now I am not a Batman fanboy of any type so you are going to get an objective and realistic review of the newest installment of the Batman movies..
I am going going to break down the movie’s main characteristics.
1: Character Development:
Batman:
Well yeah, we know he’s Batman! He’s Christian Bale ( and he’s a bit on the gaunt side to be playing the caped crusader! Better start pounding fried chicken dinners since he’s starting to look like a hungry fruit bat!) . We already know his origins and his conflicts with love interest Rachel Dawes but what’s with that “Cookie Monster” crime fighter voice?! D is for Dark Knight and it’s good for me! Perhaps…
The Joker (the late Heath Ledger):
Now I know followers of the original Batman movie will say that you can’t compare to good’ol Jackie Boy but in all honesty , Heath does a very good job of trying to fill the shoes of an extremely talented actor and insanity icon such as Jack Nicholson. However, there should have been more “joker-ness” written into the film. At times it just felt like there was something missing. Maybe it was the lack of insane loud laughter or not enough cool “joker toys” to taunt the Batman. As every epic meetup with the Joker & Batman felt as if I was watching a counseling session!
Harvey Dent : Two Face
Aaron Eckhart I feel should have not been cast for this part as he seems to be trying to hard to be bad. He’s very bad at being bad and very good at being good! Even with his cool burnt-off face effects and mind corruption by the Joker, he still makes me feel as if it’s time to say..okay Harvey, just put the gun down and take your coin to the subway and ride outta town!
So yes, that’s it for characters as alas we know Alfred is old and encouraging and of course Rachel is just the damsel that needs to mend that broken heart.
So character wise I give it a 3.5 out of 5!
Background story:
Supposed to be the origination of the Joker and the rise of commissioner Gordon to his current day status as commissioner.
Background story wise I give it 3.0 out of 5!
So what’s left? Well to tell you whether or not you should see this movie!
Overall this is a good movie for those who are fans of the series as a whole. It has moments that seem lackluster in comparison to the original yet entertaining.
This is a great movie if you have never seen the original and are a part of the new “comic book movie generation” and take the movie for what it is.
I would say the I was entertained but would have yearned to have a more darker, wittier & less casual ending to a movie that should have been more impactful to hardcore Batman fans.
Does it live up to the hype of being the best?
The answer is NO.
But if you are truly a Batman fan, then it’s a must see.
My rating overall is a 3.5 out of 5…not spectacular but not bad.
Hopefully Batman’s next adventure will be a true dance with the devil!

Just saw The Dark Knight on Friday night, and I must say the movie was very good, Im going to have to disagree with some points in this review, But I must say The late Heath Ledger’s performance was incredible, he really delivered on the character of the joker. as well as a great cast, and action scenes. I give the movie a 4 out of 5
