Square-Enix opens new studio in North America.

Square-Enix made another move to broaden their appeal and audience today. The company announced earlier today that they are opening a new studio in L.A. as part of their drive to achieve 50% of its revenue outside of Japan. The company’s new studio has numerous positions currently open. The job posting tips the developers hand a bit, as they are looking for software engineers with Wii and 360 experience.

“We see great opportunities in North American and European markets, both of which are expected to be maintaining sustainable growth over these coming years,” said the company’s president, Yoichi Wada.

This is Square-Enix’s second move into the North American and European market. The company announced a publishing agreement for Supreme Commander 2 with Gas Powered Games earlier this week. Although the creation of a development studio on American soil is the more diversification that we expected. Square-Enix will be releasing The Last Remnant for 360 and a Chrono Trigger remake for the DS next week.
