According to sources close to Sony, it is believed that they are currently working on a digital video download service, to announce at this year’s E3 event. Sony has recently been in talks with major movie studios, to allow downloadable movies and content through its PlayStation Network in addition to music. Sony has been working on this service, in order to compete with Microsoft and the Xbox 360 marketplace, which now offers feature length films from various movie studios. Sony has tried to launch the digital video download service, but has been unsuccessful twice. Hoping that a third time is the charm, and will allow them to compete against Microsoft. We will find out how the competition ranks up, as this digital video download service is announced at E3 this July.
