Rumor: Relic Entertainment Looking At Dawn of War 2 For Consoles?

Mark Noseworthy, Producer of Dawn of War 2, believes that Relic’s title controls differently enough to make a console edition possible.

Relic Entertainment has been making RTS titles – and very good ones – for quite some time now. They have numerous award-winning titles under their belt including Homeworld, Company of Heroes and Dawn of War. However, all of them have been relegated to the PC. Noseworthy stated in a recent interview that “We don’t see porting a traditional PC RTS to console as a very good strategy because the controls, by definition, are incompatible with the game design”. Adding, “To do RTS on console right, you have to develop from the ground up and rethink what it means to have real-time-strategy gameplay.” Sounds depressing doesn’t it?

Don’t worry, Noseworthy wasn’t finished, “Dawn of War 2 isn’t a traditional RTS and I think it would make a much better candidate for porting to console than any of our previous games but there are no such plans right now.”

No such plans, but it is possible that they are looking into it!
