Rage To Be Released Before 2011 - Probably

iD Software’s Rage is still a long way from release.

QuakeCon kicked off this week and with it comes speculation surrounding the famous developer that launched the first-person shooter genre. iD’s latest project (that we have any kind of substantial information for) is the multi-genre title Rage. Project Leader Tim Willits stated during the convention that Rage will be out “when it’s fun and when it’s done. Unfortunately that is the answer I have to give.”

When queried with which year the game would be released Willits stated “not that far out” to 2011. Geez, we have to wait that long?

Willits also wanted to clarify that the title is not a vehicular-combat game. “That’s one of the things that we want to try and address - the game is a first-person action game that has a variety of gameplay that is no longer just run-and-gun. It focuses on story-driven missions. It’s not this huge mindless open world. But it is a first-person action game that has a variety of gameplay built upon id Tech 5. That’s really our key message.” said Willits.

“One website had it listed as a vehicle-based combat game, but that’s not what it is. It’s a component of the game, but it’s not that kind of game.”
