Dragon Quest IX features trickling out.
In Japan Dragon Quest is where it is at. While Square-Enix’s biggest franchise worldwide may be Final Fantasy, Japan goes completely nuts whenever a new DQ title is announced, released or even hinted at. The gamers on the other side of the large pond also like the franchise the way it is, often fearing any changes to gameplay mechanics. In the latest version of Famisu it is revealed that the upcoming DS title, Dragon Quest IX, will possess numerous features from past titles in the series.
- Churches to resurrect and cure poisons
- Pots you can lift and break (yes, just like in the Zelda franchise)
- Day-night cycles
- A completely to scale game world, as seen in DQVIII
- Avoidable “random” battles
Famitsu did not have any details one of the title’s original features, the use of co-op gameplay. Dragon Quest IX is set to take Japan by storm in February 2009, so we should get these details soon.
