Rare Stamped Out

An end of an era has ended at Rare, the companies two founders Chris and Tim Stamper have left the company they started.  Rare started developing games for Nintendo for many years, and are known for the popular and excellent Nintendo 64 shooter Goldeneye 007 and Perfect Dark.  But it was not until four years ago that Microsoft acquired Rare from Nintendo for a reported $375 million dollars.  Microsoft acquired Rare to develope games for the XBox and Xbox 360, but the sales of Rare games on Microsofts consoles have been a disappointment, and have not lived up to what the games were on Nintendo's consoles.

Was it a mistake for Nintendo in letting Rare go? I think it was because Rare developed better games for Nintendo and sold more, and gamers anjoyed playing their games on Nintendo.  We will have to see whats in store for Rare in the future, and if they can go back to developing top notch games.
